We’re Mary Kathryn Paynter
and Caroline Garry
(But you can call us Big Cheese.)
We combine business, strategy, communications, and design thinking to develop meaningful and authentic brands for organizations big and small, start-ups or stalwarts. We don’t just come up with what’s cool; we craft the message your people want to hear and one that you can deliver on.
(It’s one part special sauce and two parts hard work.)
We’ve seen firsthand how the power of brand can motivate customers to become full-fledged fans. We develop the tools and show you how to use them.
The rest is up to you.
As a seventh-generation Texan and an entrepreneur at heart, MK Paynter has a deep respect for feisty independence and a passion for helping small business owners understand and grow their brands.
Working across various branding positions over ten years, she has developed highly successful brand strategies, messaging, and social plans for Kellogg’s (Bear Naked Granola), High Brew Coffee, Primizie, FBA, Milkshake Media, National Cooperative Grocers Association, D.M. O’Connor Ranches, Populous, Hiatus Spa + Retreat, By George, Lambert’s, Elizabeth Street Cafe, and McGuire Moorman Hospitality, including their popular “Burger Challenge” campaign.
In 2010, she also started her own floral design business, Loretta Flower, & grew it entirely through social media, garnering national attention and landing her a spot as a contributing columnist to popular blog, Design Sponge, where she grew her passion for creating content that sticks.
Her goal is to make your customers not just loyal, but passionate ambassadors for your brand.
Caroline Garry brings over 15 years of design thinking to creating successful brand strategies and systems. She will help your brand to connect the dots, spark memories, affect change, bring awareness and inspire joy. Caroline is a big thinker – a doer – who works passionately to craft the right solutions.
Her expertise includes building brand identity systems from the ground up, developing corporate promotions and toolkits, facilitating grassroots movements, captivating audiences and sparking conversation around important issues, visually telling stories through data, building fresh web and mobile designs, and constructing compelling package design – all while cultivating relationships with clients and rolling up her sleeves with them.
Caroline held Senior-level positions at ad agencies in Austin and Houston, Texas. She also previously served as an Adjunct Professor for Visual Communications with Austin Community College. She enjoys giving talks about brand to university students and business professionals of all industries. When Caroline is not working hard for you, she’s working hard for her community by leading efforts in progressive politics, civil rights and city infrastructure.
