A Place for All The Rothko Chapel is a challenge. It is a space for stillness, solitude and gathering, yet at the same time a fierce voice and champion of civil rights activists. It is a refuge for the 90,000 people of all faiths who take a quiet moment to visit each year from every part of the world. The space contains 14 murals created by American artist Mark Rothko, but it isn’t a gallery. This is the dissonance and balance that the Chapel offers. The Rothko Chapel rebrand begged to be mysterious and provocative – open for interpretation – but at the same time welcoming to all.
“The real act of discovery consists not in finding new lands, but in seeing with new eyes.” – Marcel Proust
